Saturday evening (that would be yesterday), my hubby and I had our Valentine's Day Night-Off minus the kids.
I had a pretty productive day meeting up with clients, my future Brides-to-be. So coming home and spending some quality time with the hubby was a much needed time indeed.
I was so looking forward to getting into my pyjamas; putting on my big fluffy pink slippers; tying my hair up into a ponytail and makeup off........SO not sexy at all! Not one bit! (nice to know my hubby likes it that way!...so there!)
Having our "alone time together" doesn't come around often, but when it does, we tend to jump into our pjs and be silly goofy couch potatoes and watch movies all night long while sipping on some good red wine. Doing so has become such a luxury! We used to take it for granted back then!
The first movie we watched was "Tower Heist" with Ben Stiller, Eddy Murphy, Matthew Broderick, Tea Leoni.
To our much surprise, the movie was very entertaining, hilarious and all, and we both loved it.
I love it when the movie catches us by surprise like that!
Highly recommend it if you are looking for a simple, entertaining, easy-watching-kinda movie to sit back and enjoy to.
...is called "The Ex" with Zach Braff, Amanda Peet and Justin Bateman.
You'd think, 'Woe, great cast!'
right? right?
Well, Justin, whom I adore as an actor (LOVE him in Arrested Development!) was SO GOOD at playing his character that he was SO ANNOYING and the whole movie was very aggravating! lol
My hubby and I had the same reaction, thankfully, of annoyance...
OH yeah!...THAT'S why!!
The character played my Justin and the story that kept unfolding due to this character was SO annoying, SO irritating!
Not only that...
Another thing that bothered me so much about this movie was because the baby was NOT SWADDLED!!!
You see, the couple played by Zach and Amanda, are a cute married couple who just had this adorable baby boy together.
The couple moves back into her hometown to raise their baby together. All is fine here...until...
I see this tiny little baby, obviously played by a real tiny baby-actor who clearly does not look older than perhaps about 2 months old, comes into picture held by his mother (played by Amanda) and his poor lil' arms and legs dangled out into the air!!!!
Cut to another scene...
Family is gathered to have a nice dinner at the table. You see the baby again sitting on his mother's lap...and I couldn't help but cringe to the the fact that again, his arms and legs were not properly tucked away in a swaddle, but also he was sitting looking obviously uncomfortable! An infant should not be sitting!! An infant should be held on it's back or tummy in a horizontally-angled position!
At every moment I saw this poor little baby-actor, I couldn't help myself but to scream to the tv, "swaddle! please swaddle the poor baby!"
And at all times, he was being held ever so uncomfortably by someone who clearly is not used to holding a baby....(sorry Amanda!)
Hubby laughed and told me to stop watching the movie in my 'motherly'-state. lol
Sorry, I could't help it!
Ever since I gave birth to a child, my tolerance for seeing a child crying, being mistreated, abused, abandoned, left out IN A MOVIE has gone straight out of my womb along with my placenta!
I just can not tolerate watching it!! It breaks my heart!
And I know it's in the movie and it's all make believe, but sorry I just can't!
And in this case, it wasn't make believe! The poor baby-actor was not swaddled when he clearly was at the age he needed to be swaddled the most!
I get very motherly...lol
So yup, this movie was immediately stopped at this point and rejected due to the characters' annoying behaviours and the baby-actor being mistreated! lol
Sorry Zach, Amanda and Justin!!
Next up, the new "Star Trek"!
I was sitting on the edge of the sofa the whole entire time!
Very entertaining, the special effects were great! Scenes of typical hollywood-cliché-moments galore, but hey, all was done with grace and it's Star Trek movie, so it's okey:)
(and no, NOT a trekkie and will not become one....i just simply appreciate and enjoy their movies and movies only, justsayin')
So off to bed we went.
Was a great night off!
We both have worked in the film industry (actually my hubby still does) so we appreciate watching movies big time. Apart from the storyline, the acting, the cinematography, the directing and all the typical stuff...hubby watches and observes the special effects as it is his industry, and I the makeup, hair and its continuity and that of the set, props, camera angles etc.
So lastly,
if you are a mother of an infant...can you please swaddle the baby! :)
It provides not only comfort, but security and reassurance and the baby will remain calm and will sleep well because of it. Trust me! My both girls were swaddled for months and this does the trick!
They come out of a womb where they were swaddled naturally by you, inside you. So don't freak them out by allowing their limbs get dangled about:) Swaddle them, swaddle :)
Again....my motherlyness comes out, sorry! :)
Fangirl here - Benedict Cumberbatch is sooo deliciously hot in Star Trek: Into Darkness
ReplyDeleteHum! That's his name, huh! Yah, those eyes in this film....yaoza!! He definitely fit the part and played it very well :)
